Why transfer trends matter

Net transfers drive FPL price changes, so heavily-bought players rise in value while heavily-sold ones drop. Watching the trends helps you move early — banking value before a rise, or dodging a fall. Check the fixture difficulty planner before following the crowd, and see our guide to managing transfers like a pro.

FAQs

When do FPL price changes happen?

Player prices update overnight, typically between about 1:30am and 3am UK time. Whether a player rises or falls depends on net transfers in or out relative to their ownership.

How many free transfers do I get in FPL?

You get one free transfer per gameweek and can bank unused ones up to a maximum of five. Any extra transfer beyond your free ones costs 4 points.

Should I transfer early or wait for the deadline?

Transferring early catches price rises but risks injury news changing the picture. Unless you are chasing a specific price change, waiting until after press conferences (usually a day or two before deadline) is the safer play.

Do I lose money selling a player who rose in price?

You only bank half of a player's price rise (rounded down) when you sell. A player bought at 8.0 who now costs 8.4 sells for 8.2.
