How are FPL bonus points decided?
Every action in a match — goals, assists, key passes, tackles, saves, clean sheets and more — earns or loses Bonus Points System (BPS) points. When the match ends, the player with the highest BPS gets 3 bonus points, the second 2, and the third 1. Ties share the higher amount.
When are bonus points confirmed?
Provisional bonus is visible as soon as a match finishes, and is usually confirmed within an hour of the final whistle once the BPS data is finalised. Bonus points are then added to player totals and mini-league scores.
Can bonus points change after the match ends?
Yes — provisional bonus can shift if late BPS adjustments are made (for example a goal reassigned or a key pass added) before the data is locked. Once the gameweek is finalised, bonus points no longer change.
Which players earn the most bonus points?
Attacking returns dominate BPS, so forwards and midfielders who score or assist usually top it — but defenders who keep a clean sheet and complete lots of passes, and goalkeepers with several saves, regularly sneak bonus in low-scoring games.
